How to make your own nail polish
One of the great things about making your own cosmetics is that you can customize them to your own liking. If you’re not happy with the color selection at your local store, or you want to add a little pizazz to your nails, making your own nail polish is a great way to do it! Here’s how:
What You’ll Need:
- Empty nail polish bottle with brush (you can find these at any beauty supply store)
- Nail polish remover
- Paper towels
- Funnel
- 1/4 teaspoon of clear nail polish (this will be your base)
- 1/4 teaspoon of desired color pigment powder (you can find these at any craft store)
- 1 drop of essential oil (optional, for scent)
1. Start by thoroughly cleaning out your empty nail polish bottle with nail polish remover and paper towels. You want to make sure there is no residue left behind so that your new polish goes on smoothly.
2. Next, use the funnel to add the clear nail polish and pigment powder to the bottle. If you’re using an essential oil, add that in as well.
3. Screw the top back on and shake the bottle vigorously for about a minute, until the powder is completely dissolved.
4. Your new nail polish is now ready to use! Apply it as you would any other polish and enjoy your unique color.
